IMPROVING STUDENTS' ACTIVITIES ON LEARNING SOCIOLOGY THROUGH COOPERATIVE LEARNING MODEL TYPE STAND (STUDENT TEAMS ACHIEVEMENT DIVISION)

Abstrak
The discussion about less active students' problems in learning become the most important thing to do various strategies or ways. During these days, students think that learning Sociology is memorized material so that students become passive and not active. Besides, students' braveness and confidence to ask and answer the questions of discussion and teachers are more decreased and tend not being able to say opinion. To solve these problems, teachers can use various creative strategies, methods, media, and approaches, one of them is by using cooperative learning model type STAD (Student Teams Achievement Division). The aim of this study is to find out the improving of students' activities on learning Sociology through cooperative learning model type STAD (Student Teams Achievement Division) in class XI IIS2. This study used behavioristic theory which looked at the observed behaviour and be explained on action as the result of the interaction which has stimulus and response. This study is a classroom action research which is done by an observer. The action was done by using four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The activities done by the observer were students asked group member and teacher, and answered the questions of group discussion, and answered teacher's questions. The finding results of this study on the cycle I are students' activity to ask the group member is about 80%, students' activity to ask the teacher is about 73%, students' activity to answer the questions of group discussion is about 76%, and students' activity to answer the teacher's questions is about 61%. Besides, on the cycle II, the results are students' activity to ask the group member is about 88%, students' activity to ask the teacher is about 80%, students' activity to answer the questions of group discussion is about 88%, and students' activity to answer the teacher's questions is about 76%. Based on the cycles result, it can be seen that the use of cooperative learning model type STAD (Student Teams Achievement Division) in learning Sociology is more active and the braveness in saying opinion is better. It can be concluded that the use of cooperative learning model type STAD (Student Teams Achievement Division) can improve students' learning activities, especially in learning Sociology.
