This study focused for improving historical understanding of student. problem underlying this study is the lack of historical understanding of students after participating in learning history. This classroom action research using qualitative approaches to the design of a cycle Kemmis and Taggart. The results showed an increase in the historical understanding of each cycle. In the first cycle began appearing students who express opinions that show historical understanding. The second cycle of an increase in the quality of historical understanding and the number of students who expressed their opinions in class. And on the third cycle increased dramatically between the quality of historical understanding and the number of students who expressed their opinions in class. Based on the research and analysis we can conclude that the audio-visual media can improve the understanding of the historical use of audio-visual media. Researchers hope this study can enrich the wealth of literature on the use of audio-visual media to enhance the historical understanding.
