Abstrak
Salah satu penggunaan mesin pendingin bertujuan untuk mengawetkan buah-buahan. Produk yang didinginkan adalah buah apel dengan kapasitas 2 ton. Buah apel yang telah dibersihkan disimpan pada temperatur 35oF dengan kelembaban relatif (RH) 85%. Cold storage dirancang untuk pemakaian di kecamatan Poncokusumo Kabupaten Malang. Kondisi iklim suhu udara diambil 35°C dan kelembaban 97%. Volume dalam ruangan pendingin ini adalah 13,12 x 8,2 x 8,2 = 882,19 ft3. Ukuran ruangan tersebut merupakan ukuran ruangan bagian dalam, belum termasuk ukuran ruangan dengan insulasi. Buah apel disimpan dalam 80 crate @ 25 kg terbuat dari kayu dan disusun pada rak di dalam ruangan cold strorage. Hasil perancang diperoleh total beban pendinginan adalah 12.457,929 Btu/hr atau 3.139 kcal/hr atau 1,04 TR dan mesin pendingin yang cocok untuk beban pendingin ini dengan kompresor berdaya 1,6 hp, dipilih 2,24 hp dengan putaran 590 rpm.

ABSTRACT
One of the uses of refrigeration to preserve fruits. The cooled product is an apple with a capacity of 2 tons. Apples that have been cleaned stored at 35oF temperature with relative humidity (RH) 85%. Cold storage is designed for use in the district of Malang Poncokusumo Regency. The climactic conditions of air temperature taken 35°C and humidity 97% RH. Volume in the cooling room is 13.12 x 8.2 x 8.2 = 882.19 ft3. The size of the room is a room the size of the inside, not including the size of the room with insulation. Apples stored in 80 @ 25 kg crate made of wood and arranged on shelves in the room cold storage. The results obtained designers total cooling load is 12457.929 Btu / hr or 3139 kcal / hr or 1.04 TR and engine cooling is suitable for cooling load with a compressor powered 1.6 hp, 2.24 hp selected with 590 rpm rotation.
