Abstrak This study is grounded in the lack of studies which discuss K.H.E. Moh Yasin whose role in education was very important but was not well known among the society. The researcher employed historical method and literature study with main research question being investigated: “How was K.H.E Moh Yasin’s role in education in the area of Menes Pandeglang Banten under the Dutch colonialism during 1916-1938?”. The condition of education that time was so poor as it was only accessible by those who had certain status in the community and not by the Indonesian natives. K.H.E Moh Yasin had the initiative to carry out the education for Indonesian natives and further he struggled to realize it. Finally his struggle was fruitful as Mathla’ul Anwar institution, which serves as the evidence of his struggle in Menes Pandeglang Banten, was eventually founded.
