Abstrak TIMMS is an international assessment of school-based curriculum for Mathematics and Science around the world. TIMSS 2011 results show that there are gaps of achievement in Malaysian education system with other countries because 35 per cent and 38 per cent of Malaysian students failed to reach the minimum level of skills in mathematics and science. The findings show that the area of algebra was the most difficult for Malaysian pupils mainly for domain-level cognitive reasoning. Therefore, the main focus of the study is innovating student-centred learning pedagogy for 21st century. Inquiry-based learning approach is the realization of pedagogical inquiry learning skills for the 21st century student. A quasi-experimental study using a quantitative descriptive analysis of data addressed to respondents among form two students only. Data for student achievement had been analysis of by using percentage, mean, standard deviation and t test.
