Abstrak
While the ineffectiveness and the inefficiency of the teaching of English as general course of English (MKDU) has become a common knowledge, only few has explicitly elaborated the causes of the matters. This article tries to explain some potential answers to that phenomenon. Besides, it also promotes the importance of implementing ESP as the most suitable approach to teach English as MKDU to college students with the intention to teach the English materials that are defined based on needs assessment and help the students to develop their academic and professional knowledge.
