Abstrak Gender has been one of the concerns of health studies, particularly on how gender role is interrelated with health. Indonesia has a set of gender cons¬truction which consists of set of roles of women and men. Indonesian women’s roles are officially defined as “the five women’s tasks” to which Indonesian women are urged to conform. The distinction of roles of women and men often lead to a gender-based unequal position. Eventually, this might influence women’s health in some way. In this paper, the influence of Indonesian women’s gender roles to Indonesian women’s health will be discussed. Based on literature review, there is evidence to suggest that Indonesian women’s roles, as it is described in “the five women’s task”, have disadvantaged women’s health.
