PERANAN GALERI SENI RUPA BAGI SENIMAN KOTA BANDUNG (KAJIAN HISTORIS TAHUN 1990-2000)

Abstrak
Art gallery is like the form of a room or building facilities designed and functioned for art activities. A comprehension of gallery can not be separated from the word "art", as supporting the understanding, that the gallery is showing a place or means a building that contains objects of art. Lack of sufficient sense of art become an obstacle and challenge for artists to seek a path of resolution. Artists demanded not only able to create a creative work, but should be able to think with and be creative as well. From the creative mind of artists in Bandung, the building or the art infrastructure was built even without help from the government. The purpose of this research is revealing the role of an art gallery in an effort to develop the creativity of artists in the city of Bandung in 1990 - 2000. The reason for this research that is the attraction of tourism potential of art in the city of Bandung based on historical studies. To describe the extent to which the role of the gallery for the creativity of artists, researchers used historical methods and techniques used are literature studies and interviews. The role of an art gallery in 1990 - 2000 begins with the emergence of an art gallery founded by Barli Sasmitawinata. Development establishment in Bandung next gallery established by other artists, among which Sunaryo, Jeihan Sukmantoro, I Nyoman Nuarta, and Popo Iskandar. Built art gallery in Bandung, became a means of supporting the development of creative activity as artists turned works of art, the art of coaching orientation, documentation of the work, and the development of creativity.
