Pengaruh Kepemimpinan dan Kompetensi terhadap Kinerja Manajer Tingkat Bawah (Survey pada Badan Usaha Milik Negara Bidang Jasa di Propinsi Jawa Barat)

Abstrak
The strict competition of business world in the globalization era calls for a professional touch in managerial tasks in order to be able to compete in international market. Some indicators prove that the low performance of the State Own Company’s in general is produced by the internal condition of that company, such as performance of SOC’s management which is not optimal. There are two objectives that want to be achieved in this research. First is to describe leadership, competence and lower managers’ performance at the State Owned Company of Service Sector in West Java; second is to explain empirically the effect of leadership and individual competence, and their influences on lower managers’ performance at the State Owned Company of Service Sector in West Java. Based on data analysis and discussion, the results of this research at SOC of service sector in West Java are as follow: (1) leadership, competence and lower managers’ performance are unidimensionally, precisely, and consistently explained by the aspects that are related to those variables; and (3) leadership and competence, have a positive and significant influence on lower managers’ performance, partially and simultaneously. From the total causal effects, the dominant effect on lower managers’ performance at SOC of service sector in West Java is contributed by individual competence, in succession followed by culture, and leadership.
