Syeikh Nawawi Al-Bantani is an influential figure who comes from Tanara, Banten and also an intelectual figure for scholars in Banten. On the basis of his vast intelectual, many of his works are used as references for educational world in general and boarding school in specific. In this study, the researcher used Historical method incorporating four research steps namely heuristic, criticism, interpretation and historiography. As for data collection technique, researcher used literature study technique which is reviewing relevant sources with the researcher field of study. Based on the result of the study, Syeikh Nawawi Al-Bantani is the most influential figure in his era, and also productive in producing his works. He is a thinker in Islam religion and also a combatant in the warfare against colonialism in Banten. On the basis of his idea, he is able to form the socio-cultural condition in Banten. His most notable ideas in the formation of socio-cultural in Banten are illustrated in his books entitled Qatr al-Ghaits, Maqasidu as-Shari’ah, Salalim al-Fudala, dan Tawsikh ibn Qasim al-Ghuzzi Qut al-Habib al-Gharib. As in the aspect of the formation of religious identity in Banten, his ideas are illustrated in his books entitled Marah Labib li Kasfi Ma’na al-uran al-Majid, Maraqi al-Ubudiyyah, Salalim al-Fudhala dan Sullam al-Munajah. With his students who had learned once to sheikh Nawawi al-Bantani which later continued building islamic law in Banten. some of them who are becoming pioneer in the rebellion against injustice are Haji Wasid, K.H Arsyad bin Alwan which is the relative of Syeikh Nawawi Al-Bantani, K.H Marzuki, K.H Mas Muhammad Arsyad Thowil dan K.H Asnawi. Those figures are the pioneer of a big affair which happened in Banten namely Geger Cilegon affair 1888.
